ERA Asia

Through the reinstatement of the Asian Council in 2003, ERA is reaching out to serve as the voice for direct response within the Asian markets, while providing a networking environment for interaction and idea exchange for professional growth and development. In 2005 the council was renamed to the Asia Committee. The committee is actively involved on multiple issues relating to the pan pacific region and is coordinating numerous ERA initiatives to improve membership growth and services. In an effort to continue to improve its benefits to the Asian and pan pacific markets, ERA is undertaking an inventory of support services and initiatives specifically targeted to Asian members. ERA understands the need to develop relationships within the Asian markets and continues to survey its Asian members to determine exactly what programs would be most important to its international members. Asia is represented on the ERA Board of Directors by Yuji Sakuraba.  Direct response consumer marketing has expanded beyond traditional TV home shopping and infomercials to include complete multi-channel marketing strategies that are increasingly being used by international companies, and exploding in the Pan Asian arena. This past year, over 60 percent of ERA’s Asia-specific member companies attended ERA conferences to network and strategize industry policy and upcoming initiatives. ERA's Asia committee worked with The Kellen Company to produce Doing Business in Asia, a brief overview of doing business in China, Korea and Japan.  The brochure covers topics such as cultural differences, import/export regulations and counterfeiting as well as many others.  The brochure, available to all ERA members, can be downloaded here.
