About the 2010 GA Fly-In

On May 18 and 19, 80 leaders in the direct response industry gathered in Washington, DC for the 2010 ERA Government Affairs Fly-In.

Participants enjoyed fantastic networking at two receptions - one held at the Venable LLP offices and the other at the Hotel George. The Congressional Insights Game, a new addition to the GA Fly-In, received rave reviews and provided attendees with a fun and interactive way to learn about what goes on in Congress. Participants attended more than 40 Hill meetings, including a record number of meetings with members of Congress. Most importantly, GA Fly-In attendees helped to shape the outcome of two pending legislative proposals.

Attendee Post-Event Follow Up

ERA is actively working to follow up on the legislative aspects of the GA Fly-In meetings. However, attendees are strongly encouraged to follow up with their members of Congress. If you attended the GA Fly-In, please feel free to contact the staff person you met with from your representative's office. A good follow up includes: a thank you, a reminder of your connection to the district, a note on the issues we worked on, and an invitation to contact you in the future. If you have any questions, please contact Tomi Turner at tturner@retailing.org or at 703-908-1022.

Take the post-event survey! We'd love to hear how we can approve the event to better meet your needs. The survey is only eight questions and will take you just a few minutes to complete. www.surveymonkey.com/s/ERAGAFlyIn

KlobucharKeynote Speaker: Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN)

ERA is honored and proud to announce that Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar will be delivering a keynote address at the 2010 ERA Government Affairs Fly-In at noon on Wednesday, May 19.

In 2006, Amy Klobuchar became the first woman elected to represent the State of Minnesota in the U. S. Senate. Senator Klobuchar quickly established herself as a leader determined to get results. The Washington Post has described Klobuchar as "a rising star". Klobuchar currently serves on the Senate Commerce and Judiciary Committees – two of the most important for the direct response industry.
